Web AR, Explained
What Is Web AR?
Web AR is augmented reality that runs in the phone’s browser. People scan a QR code or open a link and the camera starts, with no app to install. That removes the biggest drop-off of app-based AR: the download.
Where It Works Best
- On packaging: scan the pack to play, like Indomilk Kids × Pokémon with 538k players and 2.13M website views.
- In a venue: an AR hunt or a portal, like Catch The Ghost with an average session of 5m 55s.
- On social: branded filters and quizzes people share, like the NTMY quiz with a 67% share rate.
What Drives the Cost
The kind of AR (filter, tracking a pack, a world portal), the 3D content and animation, game mechanics and rewards, the number of markets and the analytics you need. We scope it after a short call.
Will It Work on Every Phone?
Web AR runs on most modern phones in Indonesia. We test on a range of mid-range Android phones and iPhones, and give older phones a simpler fallback.
